Dear Families of New Fifth Graders,
You’re moving on up! Fifth grade is a year of independence and self-motivation, along with preparation for middle school. To aid in your child’s growth please encourage him/her to be organized, prepared, and responsible for his/her work and actions. The curriculum is rigorous and therefore it is important that class work and homework be completed on time to stay on track and not fall behind. The use of planners/assignment notebooks will be required to keep track of homework, upcoming assessments, and projects.
If you need to contact me the best way is by email- fregiehL@milwaukee.k12.wi.us- and on the Remind App- you can join by heading to this address- https://www.remind.com/join/2021room43. There is a lot going on both before and after school to prepare for student learning and attending meetings. I can give you my full attention when I am expecting you, so please contact me ahead of time if you’d like to meet in person. Your respect for this policy is appreciated.
Please visit this site over the summer for learning activities for the summer and other classroom information about the year ahead.
All families are encouraged to attend open house/orientation night prior to school starting. It is encouraged that you bring your child’s school supplies at this time, otherwise they will be needed on the first day of school.
Two things concerning supplies:
-
When shopping off the MPS supply list, the following items DO NOT need to be purchased: graph paper, ruler, liquid glue & a protractor.
-
Additional supplies from our wish list include:
-
2 boxes of Kleenex
-
2 reams of computer paper
-
1 container of Clorox wipes (or more!)
-
1 roll of paper towel
-
ziploc bags in various sizes
-
I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you! In fifth grade we take learning and behavior very seriously, so when you join us in September, be prepared to work hard. Until then, enjoy the summer!
